This shocking photo of an anorexic woman by controversial Italian photographer Oliviero Toscani appeared in Italian newspapers and on billboards to coincide with fashion week in Milan, to highlight the problems in the fashion industry with size zero models and the dangerous body image that they portray.
Toscani's aim was "to use that naked body to show everyone the reality of this illness, caused in most cases by the stereotypes imposed by the world of fashion".
The good news is that models in Milan this year must carry medical certificates, and the opening show featured more shapely women.
