The Daily Newds

  • After 53 years, the Mystic Oaks nudist resort is closing. Owner Flo Nilson recalls her first experience with nudism:
"I was nervous at first but found it so uplifting, the most natural thing in the world," Nilson said. "My mother, who was from Sweden, always said: 'If you haven't seen what God has shaped, let them stand and gape.'"
  • The journalists outnumbered the nudists at a Dutch gym's first "Naked Sunday".
  • A Wisconsin man decided to run naked through some freshly fallen snow, but some other residents in the apartment complex did not share his enthusiasm and called the police.
  • Star baseball shortstop Omar Vizquel also likes to paint.
There are no easels in Vizquel's studio, just canvases taped to the garage door. He touches up one painting of eels slung over a man's back, an image that he saw in a photography book. Spread out on the floor are other recent projects: a fat woman asleep in a chair, a woman holding a baby, a woman's slender, curving backside. They are all nudes. ``My favorite thing to paint,'' he says, ``are the naked ladies.''
  • There is a people's sexual revolution taking place in mainland China.
Pan (Suiming, a professor of sociology at Renmin University in Beijing) said he thought one reason for the cultural change was a change in women's attitudes. "Women, especially young women in the cities, no longer think it's a bad thing to expose their bodies," he said. "Five or six years ago, when some women started to wear clothes that exposed their midriff, most people couldn't understand why belly buttons should be regarded as beautiful and deserve public exposure. Today, young women think it is natural to bare their midriff."
  • Australian nudists spent a day cleaning up a local beach, but remain uneasy about the fate of its clothing-optional status as the government prepares to make a decision.
"Optional bathing is an expression of our freedom and humanity. We should have the right to be nude without any persecution," said Justin, who declined to have his surname published.
