Can Naturism Save the Planet?

According to econudes.org, it can. This article in The Independent outlines the many ways that going nude can conserve precious resources.
Suzanne Piper, editor of Naturist Life magazine, says..."If anything, we predate the green movement, so you could argue that the greens are actually jumping on our bandwagon. Back in the early Seventies, for example, naturism was defined as 'a way of life in harmony with nature, characterised by self-respect, respect for others and for the environment'. Even before then, in the 19th century, naturists always stressed their eco-credentials."

It certainly would help. Think about a simple thing like cotton. It seems pretty eco-friendly, until you think about the bleach and dyes used to color it, they oil and metals for the machines to process it, and even the machines used to make the machines. Then factor in the chemicals needed to make the myriad of man-made fabrics.

What about air-conditioning. My roommate and I are on opposite schedules. She comes home and turns up the AC. I come home and strip down.

Here's some other random thoughts as well: detergent, water and electricity for washing, hangers, store tags, electricity for stores, racks, dressers, stain-remover, and fashion magazines.

It's not enough to just think about the material for clothing. You also have to consider the materials that go into the means of production, display, care, etc.
