Growing Up as a Naturist
Steven Vickers, spokesman for AANR, grew up as a naturist, living at Cypress Cove with his grandparents.
In elementary school, it wasn't a big deal because nobody really paid attention. Nobody knew what nudity was. In middle school, it was a little tougher because that's kind of when personality starts generating and cliques [develop]. That's the time when you're wearing the wrong shoes, you'll get picked on. In high school, everyone was like "Can you invite me out?"Tags: nudism, naturism, nudist, nudists, naturist, naturists, nudity, nudes, bare, au naturel, nude, naked

Desert Sun Resort Opens in Palm Springs

Friday is the grand opening for the Desert Sun Resort in Palm Springs. The former Desert Shadows Inn & Villas is under new ownership, but has returned to its original roots as a family-friendly clothing-optional retreat.
What looks like a walled-in, austere complex from Indian Canyon Drive is actually overflowing with plush waterfalls, streams, pools, tennis courts, workout facilities, individually owned condos and villas, a restaurant and spa. A walking bridge with canvas sides allows nudists to cross over Indian Canyon Drive to more resort property...“It's a retreat,” owner Elizabeth Young said about Desert Sun. “This is a place to get away from the job, the real world to just escape.”Tags: nudism, naturism, nudist, nudists, naturist, naturists, nudity, nudes, bare, au naturel, nude, naked

Florida Nakations Popular With International Tourists
Cypress Cove in central Florida has been successful in luring foreign naturists.
While she couldn't provide an exact number, resort spokeswoman Debra Peterson said room reservations from international tourists increased 13 percent in the past year. Of those, 46 percent were from England and six percent from Germany.Hadley said her lakeside beach is much like clothing-optional beaches in Europe, where "they have such a relaxed attitude toward topless and naturists."Tags: nudism, naturism, nudist, nudists, naturist, naturists, nudity, nudes, bare, au naturel, nude, naked
