On the Harry Potter mural: Without going into issues of so-called "appropriateness," I would like to point out that requiring a bright yellow Snitch (and, especially, a larger one) only serves to draw attention towards the figure's genital area, which is the exact opposite of its intended effect. It seems like an unadorned penis would more readily blend into the background as part of the overall expression, where the bright yellow ball covering Harry's genitalia acts as a beacon, drawing the viewers eyes directly and immediately to Harry's crotch. In other words, the covering makes the painting seem more lewd than it would have been without the artificial censorship requirements.

On the nude cell phone photos: It shows how safe this town is. The biggest crime in Kettering is teenage idiots. Of course it rates a top of the fold front page banner headline.
