The Daily Newds

  • A painting marathon event was recently held in Florida at the Naples Philharmonic Center for the Arts. We understand something of what the artist is thinking based upon the final work, but what are the nude models thinking?
"I think about lunch, dinner and, yes, I do think about sex," she (model Shenandoah Webb) says, as if that is a question she hears all the time. "You're body is staying still, but your mind doesn't stay still, so you have to meditate," she says. "You try not to think about the pain."
Webb and model Che-ke Moore have worked together for years, originally motivated by the paycheck.
Moore is a nudist at heart, and at home. "I love being nude. Being free. Enjoying your body, loving who you are and not feeling restriction of clothes," Moore says. "The only time I get dressed is when I go to the store and when I check the mailbox."
Another online article explores the life of a nude model at conservative Dartmouth College.
Maybe student nude modeling isn't congruent with the conservative, set-in-stone ideals of our historical campus, but nobody seems to mind. Besides, "they're art students, and they do get that it's just a drawing." Maybe all of our social norms are imagined constructs anyway.
  • Good article in New York magazine about how it's part of a young person's life to be "naked on the Internet".
  • Did you know that actresses who appear naked on screen win more Academy Awards?
  • A new campaign in the UK hopes to debunk many of the myths about breastfeeding in order to raise the percentage of mothers who nurse their children. England has one of the lowest breastfeeding rates in Europe.
