Regarding the non-functionality of buttocks...I saw on some nature show that buttocks in fact are a reason humans can walk and function standing upright. They act as ballast. In contrast, chimps and other apes don't have buttocks, and while they may be able to stand for a period of time, they can't move around comfortably upright.
