Detroit Mall Cancels Nearly Nude Promotions

Lush Fresh Handmade Cosmetics scheduled "Ask Me Why I'm Naked" promotions, where willing employees wear only flip-flops and aprons, have been banned at two Detroit malls.
Karen MacDonald, spokeswoman for Twelve Oaks owner Taubman Centers Inc., said Lush officials readily agreed to quash the campaign upon hearing Taubman's concerns.

"We, too, are sensitive to the environment, but we also must be sensitive to our family environment," MacDonald said.

Somerset spokesman Ed Nakfoor declined to comment on the mall's decision or dress code.

The campaign likely would be illegal, according to Troy police spokesman Lt. Gerry Scherlinck. "If any of their personal parts are exposed or visible, it's a judgment call."

Indecent exposure and indecent conduct are misdemeanors punishable by a $500 fine or 90 days in prison.
