Nudist Couple Charged With Child Sex Abuse

A Brazilian judge has indicted a U.S. couple of abusing children at a Brazilian nudist "colony". Also indicted were a Brazilian couple and the parents of three boys who were allegedly abused. Apparently hundreds of photos were found as evidence. The children were from poor areas and it is reported that money was exchanged for the right to abuse the boys.

Make no mistake. These people are not nudists, they are child predators who were living in a nudist resort. Child predators can be priests, scoutmasters, teachers, coaches or anyone from any walk of life. Unfortunately, people are already suspicious of nudists in the first place, and this horrible situation only further erodes the efforts of organizations such as AANR or TNS to promote family-safe nudism/naturism.

If these people are guilty, lock them up and throw away the key. Abusing children is the most heinous of all crimes and cannot be tolerated by anyone, anywhere, anytime.

I'm from Brazil. This news was very shocking to us; too bad the investigations are going to take so much time.

There's still the possibility that they are innocent (many people who lived with them think so), so we must be careful not to draw conclusions before everything gets explained.

I really don't know what to think. It's terrible if they're guilty (because they had been living there for a relatively long time), it's also terrible if they are innocent and someone tried to incriminate them.

[and sorry for my English, just in case you couldn't understand something i tried to say... :-)]

That statement smacks of no true Scotsman-ism to me. Being a disgrace to nudism doesn't make them not nudists.

These people are not nudists. They are child predators, pedophiles, sex criminals, etc. Nudism is family-oriented, it fosters respect for other people, especially for children, who are innocent and must be protected and nurtured. Anyone who would sexually abuse a child is not a nudist, even though they might walk around naked all the time.

Let me just add that there is a small contingent of people on the ClothesFree.com forums who are defending this couple on the basis that they have been framed by the police and locals who were angered by the fact that these "nudists" were helping the poor. Apparently giving aid to the less fortunate in Brazil is a way to arouse anger and suspicion. Anyway, imagine what would happen here in the U.S. if any nudists tried to do the same thing here - the feds would be all over them in a second. Also, the police claim to have hundreds of pictures of young boys engaging in homosexual acts that were retreived from the couple's resort. Planted evidence? We'll just have to wait and see what happens at their trial, but one has to wonder, if these people are indeed innocent, what the hell were they thinking???

Hi Nudiarist,

I agree with the "No true Scotsman" statement that Captain Slack put up. Who are you to determine as to who is and isn't a nudist?

Whether you like it or not, there are good and bad people alike in the nudist world - we are not superior or 'holier than thou' beings.

Having said that, I am not an apologist for child abuse or anything that resembles it. If the couple is guilty, I hope that they will suffer the consequences.

The "No true Scotsman" saying does not apply to this situation because a Scotsman is a Scotsman by birth. Nudism is a chosen lifestyle. These people might have been posing as nudists, but they are not nudists according the generally accepted philosophies. Nobody is denying that they were living within the nudist community. A fox merely by being found in the henhouse is not a chicken.
